Important Info Before you Register

Will I get paid if I don’t register?

  • YES. You will receive your assigned benefit payments by cheque.

Why Providers should complete registration themselves

  • Providers should always complete registration personally.
  • Registration provides Providers with access to powerful features like controlling the method of payment for all assigned benefit payments for all locations where they practice as well as access to detailed statements for all locations where they practice.
  • Owners can provide associate Providers with the banking information they wish the associate to apply to the method of payment for their location.

Setup Direct Deposit

  • After registration its important to setup direct deposit for Providers who want it.
  • Any changes to direct deposit details must be made by the Provider.

Add staff

  • Once registered it’s important that Providers add staff accounts for their staff at each one of their locations.
    This will provide staff access to historical detailed statements.
  • Staff accounts should be set up with separate credentials from the Providers account to access Instream Direct Pay. In no event should staff use Providers accounts to access instream Direct Pay.

Protect your account

  • You are responsible for protecting your account against unauthorized access.
  • It is very important to read and follow the Direct Pay Security Best Practices located here.
  • Ensure that you are choosing a strong, unique password for your account. Passwords should comply with the following criteria:
    • Password should consist of at least twelve (12) characters, including a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters;
    • Passwords must not contain your name, username, or easily guessable information;
    • Passwords must not be identical to any of your previous four (4) passwords; and
    • Passwords must not be common dictionary words or simple sequences (e.g., “password”, “123456”, “qwerty”).
  • For the safety of your account, ensure you are changing your password at least once every six months.

Preventing fraud and protecting Providers

  • Instream Direct Pay is in the unique position of aggregating payments on behalf of multiple Payors across Canada; as a result Instream Direct Pay controls the flow for all assigned benefit payments for all Direct Pay Payors for a given Provider.
  • To prevent fraud and protect Providers instream choose to enforce a strict know your customer policy to prevent fraud, and protect Providers. The Electronic Identity Verification (EIV) used for registration meets this standard, while also enabling Providers to register quickly and easily.
  • Electronic Identity Verification requires the Provider verify personal information and is completed by Trans Union or Equifax.
  • With the exception of your name and unique identifiers used to send electronic claims Instream retains none of the personal information used to verify your identity.
